Análisis del impacto del Icetex en los estudiantes de la Fundación Universitaria María Cano, facultad de ciencias empresariales durante el año 2018

Abstract

El Instituto Colombiano de Crédito Educativo y Estudios Técnicos en el Exterior (ICETEX) desde su concepción en el año 1957, se creó con el fin de tener un objeto social en la educación superior especialmente para la población de bajos recursos y quienes por su mérito académico puedan tener acceso a la educación superior, con criterios de cobertura y pertinencia educativa en condiciones equitativas. Hasta hoy, con 62 años de historia, continúa brindando a los colombianos servicios que, para algunas personas son muy positivos, pero para otras, se generan muchas inquietudes que no satisfacen totalmente sus necesidades. Por ello, se hizo necesario realizar un proyecto de investigación sobre el impacto que tiene el Icetex en los estudiantes de Fundación Universitaria María Cano, específicamente en la Facultad de Ciencias Empresariales, con el objetivo de observar la percepción que se tiene de dicha entidad crediticia y qué tanto recomiendan a quienes no tienen ningún crédito, de ser necesario, acceder a los que brinda el Icetex. Para este análisis, fue necesario realizar una serie de entrevistas a estudiantes que actualmente tienen crédito o algún otro beneficio del Icetex, además, cuál es la perspectiva de maestros, egresados y estudiantes de otras instituciones de educación superior, para hacer un análisis más amplio y comparar el pensamiento entre estudiantes de la María Cano y de otras universidades. Los resultados evidencian que el Icetex es una institución de amores y desamores, puesto que tiene quienes la defienden, pero también quienes aseguran no haber tenido una buena experiencia y, por ende, no recomiendan acceder a los programas que tiene la entidad para quienes tienen escasos recursos y están en búsqueda para acceder a la educación superior. La investigación, además, plantea alternativas de mejoramiento a la entidad crediticia, a través de recomendaciones estratégicas que contribuyan a una buena relación entre beneficiarios e Icetex, y así, continuar siendo un referente para quienes desean ingresar a realizar sus estudios de educación superior, en este caso, en la Fundación Universitaria María Cano, específicamente en la Facultad de Ciencias Empresariales.

The Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (ICETEX) since its conception in 1957, was created with the aim of having a social object in higher education especially for the low-income population and for those people that through academic merits can have access to higher education, with criteria of coverage and educational pertinence in equal conditions. Until today, with 62 years of history, it continues to provide Colombians with services that, for some people are very positive, but for others, it generate many concerns which don’t fully meet their needs. Therefore, it became necessary to carry out a research project about the impact that the Icetex has on the students of María Cano University Foundation, specifically in the Faculty of Business Sciences, with the objective of observing the perception that they have of this credit institution has, how much do they recommend to those who do not have any credit, if they have the necesity, to access to one provided by the Icetex. For this analysis, it was necessary to conduct a series of interviews with students who currently have credit or some other benefit of Icetex, as well as the perspective of teachers, graduates and students of other institutions of higher education, to make a broader analysis and compare thinking among students of the María Cano and those from students of other universities. The results show that the Icetex is an institution of love and heartbreak, since it has those who defend it, but also those who claim not to have had a good experience and, therefore, they do not recommend accessing the programs that the entity has, for those who have scarce resources and are trying to access higher education. The research also proposes alternatives for improvement to the credit institution, through strategic recommendations that contribute to a good relationship between beneficiaries and Icetex, and thus, continue being a reference for those who wish to enter their higher education studies, in this case, in the María Cano University Foundation, specifically in the Faculty of Business Sciences.
